How to choose insurance: compare terms, not just price

When comparing policies, the first thing you look at is the price. But when an insured event occurs, something else matters more: what exactly the contract covers, in which cases the insurer may refuse to pay, and how quickly you will get the money. Here is what to look out for.

Sum insured and limits. Check the amount for which the risk is insured and whether there are separate limits for different types of damage. A limit that is too low makes a cheap policy useless in the event of a major loss.

Deductible. This is the part of the damage you pay yourself. A policy with a deductible is cheaper, but the insurer will not compensate minor damage.

Exclusions. Carefully read the section on events that are not recognised as insured. This is where the reasons for refusals most often lie.

Payout procedure. Find out which documents are required, how long the insurer takes to make a decision and how it compensates the damage: in cash or through repairs.

Company reliability. Look at the rating, track record and customer reviews of how the insurer settles claims.

On Generate you can compare offers from several insurance companies in one place and choose the best terms, and our specialists will help you understand the details of the contract.
